Small businesses can still succeed in a world with COVID-19

As the "new normal" continues to become reality, we're expected to adapt in almost every aspect of life. This shouldn't stop you from pursuing your dreams, though. Did you picture yourself starting your own small business in a pre-COVID-19 world, but are worried about feasibility now? Or perhaps your family business has been around for decades, but now the future is uncertain. Don't fret — there are still many ways for your business to make it, and even thrive, in today's new (albeit strange) way of living.
It goes without saying that one of the toughest parts of maintaining a business right now is managing finances. Being forced to close down for a few months, losing customers and many other obstacles stand in the way of financial success. That's why larger corporations have been stepping in during these times of need. Successful businesses, such as Comcast, have been aiding through financial help or other forms of assistance.
Comcast lends a hand through grants, commercials and more
The Philadelphia Inquirer reported that Comcast announced it will be assisting small businesses through a number of means through the pandemic. In the hopes of helping small businesses over the next three years, the company said it will be giving out $10,000 grants to deserving businesses. Comcast also announced that it will allow businesses to apply for marketing and technology support, as well as equipment from Comcast. This includes a free, 30-second commercial to help promote the small business. The assistance includes a 90-day media campaign and marketing consulting from Comcast's sales division, Effectv.
When successful corporations assist smaller businesses, it not only helps these businesses to survive, but it also sets up opportunities for future partnerships. If your small business receives any form or help from a larger business, use it to your advantage as much as possible. Follow up with a hand-written thank-you note to a manager, connect with them on LinkedIn or stay in touch in some way to maintain that connection. It could be beneficial in your business future to keep this partnership thriving.
Boulder City helps small businesses through grants
Boulder City, Nevada, also recently announced that it will be accepting applications for grants for small businesses that have been hurt by the COVID-19 outbreak, KSNV-TV NBC reported. From the CARES Act, the city received about $190,000 in federal relief to be provided to small businesses who are struggling. In addition to this, non-profit organizations also can receive grant funding.
Small businesses that receive grant money have to meet a few criteria, such as having a physical location in Boulder City and an active Boulder City business license. However, if you are eligible, you can use the money for anything from payroll, rent, equipment, supplies or more.
