One company that has had former employees file lawsuits against it - accusing the business of wrongful termination, among other problems - is New Mexico-based private security provider Akal.
The company has made a settlement with Tivo Inc. and will pay $250.4 million to license digital video recording technology from the television and Web entertainment firm.
The suit centers on the allegation that the company violated federal laws by not paying the legal amount of wages to waiters at Red Lobster, Longhorn Steakhouse, Olive Garden, Bahama Breeze and other restaurants that operate under Darden.
