Business owners will need to be aware of any employees that seem dissatisfied, as mounting problems between management and workers could lead to a court case. For Arizona companies, it is best to consider utilizing dispute resolution services provided at Phoenix law offices before an issue gets out of hand.
One company that has had former employees file lawsuits against it – accusing the business of wrongful termination, among other problems – is New Mexico-based private security provider Akal, according to a report published jointly by the Associated Press and KTVU.
While the company did grow following the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks and was able to institute security protocols at grocery stores and other establishments, alleged issues began to crop up and the agency is now facing a large number of legal battles. With as many as 134 lawsuits pending from former employees, Akal's president Daya Khalsa claimed that the company has no more legal problems than firms of a similar size.
"We are in a legal system in our country and a regulatory system that encourages a tremendous amount of litigation," Khalsa said in a phone interview with the news source. "We don't consider it to be a large number."
One of the biggest issues that Akal has faced recently is the accusation that its gun range operators allowed guards to complete an examination focused on target range shooting past the usual time limit. However, the company's president claimed that the plaintiffs were wrong and the guards were "properly trained."
When it comes to employment-related lawsuits, Arizona business owners would be wise to consult business attorneys in Phoenix who have experience with dispute resolution.
