Chinese firms take part in ‘patent wars’ against foreign companies

When it comes to intellectual property, a number of businesses in China have begun accusing companies in the United States of stealing information behind their products and services, according to the Washington Post. Businesses in the U.S. that have found themselves accused of patent or copyright infringement may need to speak with Phoenix business lawyers specializing in intellectual property law.
Apple is one such company that was accused of both patent and trademark infringement by Chinese firms. A number of its products, like the iPhone voice assistant Siri and the Snow Leopard operating system, are allegedly infringing upon various patents.
Yuan Hui, founder and chief executive of Zhizhen Network Technology, said that this lawsuit is the first "real patent infringement" suit filed against Apple. Analysts predict that many more lawsuits are bound to come from China, accusing foreign firms of patent infringement and violating the intellectual property law.
"Think about a U.S. firm that produces all its products in China," Peter Yu, a professor at Drake University Law School specializing in intellectual property law, told the news source. "If a Chinese firm is able to get an injunction over the production of that U.S. firm, the firm would all of a sudden no longer have any products."
Also, one of the busiest patent offices in the entire world is located in China. In 2011, more domestic patent applications were filed in China than any other country. In fact, the Chinese government plans to patent 6 million applications and products over the next three years.
Companies in Arizona and other parts of the United States that were accused of patent infringement, much like Apple, will need to confer with Phoenix business attorneys who have wide experience dealing with intellectual property law.
