Those that love cooking shows and creating meals based off of recipes from celebrity chefs would be surprised to learn that a number of such cooks have had lawsuits filed against them. A lawyer in Phoenix could provide legal help to such individuals located in this region.
Paula Deen and her brother, Bubba Hiers, were issued court papers in March. Lisa Jackson, a former manager of their restaurant Uncle Bubba’s Seafood and Oyster House, accused the two of sexual harassment and racial discrimination.
Jackson claimed that Hiers regularly left pornography on his computer, used racial epithets and made discriminatory remarks against women, according to Fox News. Along with this, Hiers also allegedly did not allow African-American employees to use the front entrance of the establishment or the same restrooms as Caucasian workers. Paula Deen was implicated in this suit because she was managing the restaurant.
However, Paula Deen's lawyer Greg Hodges stated, "We investigated those claims and attempted unsuccessfully to address those claims with her. She made, prior to filing the lawsuit, baseless and inflammatory allegations threatening Ms. Deen's reputation and the reputation of her businesses unless a sum of money was paid to her."
Mario Batali is another celebrity chef that has had allegations made against him. Several months ago, Batali agreed to pay $5.25 million to plaintiffs who filed a class action lawsuit against the cook.
The plaintiffs include busboys, waiters and bartenders from a number of Batali's New York City restaurants. These employees alleged that the management at the restaurants took up to five percent from their tip pool for themselves. After several years of litigation, these servers are finally being compensated.
Celebrity chefs and other entertainers that have been accused of illegal activities may need to utilize the services of a law firm in Phoenix.
