Former NFL players sue league over head injuries

As previously reported by this blog, a number of former NFL football players have filed lawsuits against the league, accusing it of being responsible for their head injuries and subsequent brain damage. Public Radio International reported that more than 4,000 former professional football players and their significant others have filed a class action suit against the NFL, claiming that coaches and specialists in the league failed to warn them and concealed information about the impact of brain injuries from football over the long-term.

Attorney Gene Locks, a major litigation player in the country, will be representing the plaintiffs. Meanwhile, the NFL claims that these athletes knew what they were getting themselves into when they became professional football players. President Barack Obama spoke with the New Republic regarding the dangers of playing this professional sport for many years.

“I’m a big football fan,” Obama told the source. “But I have to tell you, if I had a son I’d have to think long and hard before I’d let him play football … Those of us who love the sport are going to have to wrestle with the fact that it will probably change gradually to try to reduce some of the violence.”

To avoid a similar class action suit, Arizona companies should keep employee safety a priority

Arizona-based businesses should take every precaution to keep their employees from any and all harm, especially something as serious as a brain injury. By keeping workers safe, a company’s public image will remain positive. To learn more about employee-related laws, entrepreneurs are encouraged to reach out to Phoenix business lawyers.
