Drug manufacturers need to be aware that any negative side effects from a produced pill could bring a lawsuit against the company. This is why all medication has to go through rigorous testing as well as clinical trials and be approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). If a manufacturer in Arizona does find himself accused of harming its consumers, the firm may want to consult Phoenix business law attorneys.

Johnson and Johnson is a leading drug manufacturer that is, at times, accused of producing drugs that cause negative side effects and the company recently settled a lawsuit over its antipsychotic drug Risperdal, according to Bloomberg BusinessWeek.

Aron Banks, 21, filed the lawsuit against Johnson and Johnson, accusing them of producing a drug that allegedly caused him and other males to grow breast tissue. The company was able to settle this lawsuit but another similar trial is set to take place on September 20.

In fact, there are currently 420 claims pending litigation against the company and the alleged side effects present in Risperdal. Steve Sheller, one of the attorneys for Banks' case, said that at least 130 other lawsuits are alleging that the drug caused young males to grow breast tissue. Banks had previously claimed the experience caused him to have psychological trauma and that he even needed surgery because of the side effect.

"The billions J&J made had a terrible human cost," Bob Hilliard, another lawyer for Banks' case, said in a statement. "This drug caused female breasts to grow on little boys around the country. Their childhoods were stolen, but billions were made."

Drug manufacturers and other businesses in Arizona that have been implicated in a lawsuit related to their products would be wise to confer with a Phoenix business attorney.
